So via the Zennio you are able to read values from the heat pump and "write" command to the Daikin. But the Altherma will still do the work on its own as long as you don't send commands. The unit seems to work fine at outside temperatures above 5 degrees heating the house to 18 degrees without issue. However as soon as the the temperature drops defrost cycles increase in frequency.
